Serenity Prayer

Some time ago I took a tip from Michael J. Fox's book and I carry this on a printed card in my wallet…

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.

What Cancer CANNOT Do:
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot suppress memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal eternal life.
It cannot conquer the Spirit.

The serenity prayer says it all. And a version I would like to share:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living each day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as you have, this world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that you will make all things right if I surrender to Thy will. That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with you forever in the next.
love,
Dani
